Plumb Line

Plumb Line Precepts

Grounding Through Precepts.

A year-long character formation curriculum for young people, built around short statements they can hold up against a decision and decide for themselves what they see.

Build the habit of holding the line.

A plumb line is a weight on a string. It does not argue and it does not flatter. Hold it against a wall and the wall is either true or it is not.

Each precept works the same way. One precept each week gives students a clear statement to consider, discuss, and carry into the choices in front of them.

A year of intention

Open with a vision

Students begin by writing who they intend to become. The reflection belongs to them.

Work one precept each week

Sixteen precepts sit inside a course that runs about thirty-two weeks, with teacher guidance and a printed student page for each.

Return and reflect

At the close of the year, students read what they wrote in the fall and write it again.

Made for the room you are in.

Teacher guidance opens the conversation without a script or fidelity checklist. Student pages are designed for one sitting, with material that changes by grade level while the precepts remain the same.

  • Aligned to CASEL competencies, expressed in the language of courage, attention, honesty, and love.
  • No platform, accounts, dashboard, or student data collection.
  • Buy a PDF, print it, and teach it.

Formation, not behavior management.

Plumb Line Precepts is for classroom teachers, advisory and homeroom leads, homeschool parents, and school leaders who want a substantial weekly practice without a curriculum adoption cycle.
